WHY USE LINELIGHT?

FACT

If air quality control was an active part of Health & Safety checks, most cellars in the licensed trade would be NO GO areas as the air pollution is at dangerous levels.

WHY?

We try to keep cellars cold - that means keeping the cold air we create from escaping and warm ambient air from entering.  It also means that the toxic gases created in  the cellar cannot escape. Cellars are full of natural bacteria and mould, these grow to very high levels in the confined environment as airflow is restricted.

Mould spores and bacteria affect our respiratory systems even with brief exposure - what do you think it does to other live substances like real ale? Remember, every time you pull that handle on the bar the air in the cellar is then drawn into the cask.

PRINCIPLE OF PHOTO CATALYTIC OXIDATION

The cellar light is easy to install, it is plug and play operation that should be left on 24/7 and actively neutralises airborne pollutants through a process called Photocatalytic Oxidation (which was invented by NASA for cleaning the air on the international space station) Here is how the

process works:

Photo-catalyst absorbs UV light

PHOTO-CATALYST (TiO2)

Strong oxidising hydroxyls radical (-OH) formed

Cells of bacteria / odour are destroyed

Bacteria, pollutant, allergens decomposed

Harmless water and carbon dioxide formed

scientific tests carried out in a cellar with and without the linelight show staggering results

The images below show the active mould colonies present before and after the LineLight was installed. Initially there were 55 active mould colonies and within a few days post installation this reduces to just 5.
